Terms & Conditions

These terms and conditions contain important information surrounding the ‘YOU v SPORT Free Prize Draw’ (the “Free Prize Draw”).

These terms and conditions prevail in the event of any conflict or inconsistency with any other communications, including advertising or promotional materials. Entry instructions are deemed to form part of the terms and conditions and by participating, all entrants will be deemed to have accepted and be bound by the terms and conditions. We recommend that you print a copy of these terms and conditions for future reference.

YOUR ATTENTION IS PARTICULARLY DRAWN TO CLAUSES 9 AND 10 OF THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS.

  1. 1. The Promoter

1.1 The Promoter is Science in Sport PLC, a public limited company registered with company number 08535116 and whose registered office address is at 2nd Floor 16-18 Hatton Garden, Farringdon, London, United Kingdom, EC1N 8AT (the “Promoter”).

  1. How to participate?

2.1 Entry to the Free Prize Draw is open from 00:00 on the 17th May 2024 (the “Opening Date”) until 23:59 on the 17th July 2024 (the “Closing Date”). The time of entry will be determined by the time stamp of the entrants’ electronical acceptance of these Terms and conditions and electronic confirmation entrants have read and understood the Privacy Policy as specified in clause 2.2.4 below.

2.2. To enter the Free Prize Draw, please complete the following steps during the promotional period:

2.2.1 Purchase a qualifying Science in Sport (SiS) product (clause 2.4);

2.2.2 go to www.scienceinsport.com/youvsport enter the barcode number of a purchased qualifying (SiS) product*;

2.2.3 provide all required personal details; name, email address, date of birth and select the prize you want to be entered into the draw for a chance to win and;

2.2.4 confirm that you would like to enter the Free Prize Draw by selecting “Yes, I would like to take part in the Free Prize Draw. I have accepted the Terms and conditions of the Free Prize Draw.” and read and understood the privacy policy by selecting “Yes, I have read and understood the Privacy Policy”.

2.3 There are no additional charges to enter the Free Prize Draw via the purchase entry route.

2.4 Qualifying Products shall include: All Science in Sport consumer products available at Retail with a valid barcode. Includes, but not limited to, Go Isotonic Gels, Go Electrolyte Gels, Hydro Tablets, Go Energy Powders, Bars and Bakes, REGO Recovery Range, BETA Fuel Range, or any other Science in Sport product available for purchase on www.scienceinsport.com. Products are subject to availability and whilst stocks last.

2.5. If you subscribe to the Promoter’s e-newsletter whilst entering this Free Prize Draw, you can subsequently unsubscribe from such e-newsletter at any time by following the instructions given in the accompanying emails. Signing up to the Promoter’s newsletter is optional and is not part of the Free Prize Draw. Signing up does not result in any advantage or disadvantage to a participant.

2.6. Entrants who make an entry on someone else’s behalf will be disqualified, at the Promoter’s discretion. The Promoter takes no responsibility for entries, incomplete or lost due to technical reasons or otherwise.

  1. Eligibility Criteria

4.1. The Free Prize Draw is open to residents of GB. All entrants must be aged 18 years or over on the day they enter the Free Prize Draw. Proof of age, in the form of a valid Passport or Driver`s Licence, will be required. Proof of address may also be required.

4.2. The Free Prize Draw is not open to (and by entering the Free Prize Draw you confirm that you are not in any of the following categories):

4.2.1 employees or contractors of the Promoter or its holding or subsidiary companies;

4.2.2 employees of agents, distributors or suppliers of the Promoter or its holding or subsidiary companies, who are professionally connected with the Free Prize Draw or its administration;

4.2.3 representatives, legal successors or assigns of the Promoter; or

4.2.4 the immediate families or households of those in clauses 4.2.1, 4.2.2 and 4.2.3 above.

4.3. There is a maximum of 1 entry per person.

4.4. Purchase is necessary to participate. All entries must be made directly by the individual entering the Free Prize Draw.

4.5. Internet access required.

  1. Winners

5.1. One winner per prize will be drawn at random using a computer process from all eligible entries within seven (7) days of the Closing Date. Two (2) reserve winners for each prize will be selected at the same time and according to the same principles.

5.2.  Within seven (7) days of the date of the draw in clause 5.1, the winner will be notified by e-mail. Each winner will need to follow the instructions in the notification message to reply with their full name and proof of identity together with evidence of their eligibility to enter (where applicable). The Promoter must have received all the required information, including the winner’s full name and proof of identity and eligibility information, within fourteen (14) days of first notification. Country of residence will be requested for the purpose of the winners list if no objection is received.

5.3.  In the event that the claim for the Prize is not received by the Promoter or if a winner fails to provide a full name and valid address and eligibility evidence within fourteen (14) days of first notification, a winner rejects a prize or is ineligible, the Promoter reserves the right to withdraw their Prize entitlement and award the Prize to a Reserve selected at the same time as the winner. The process will repeat for three months after which any remaining prizes will be null and void.

5.4. The Promoter will contact each winner after valid claim and the completion of the verification process to arrange fulfilment of prizes which will be fulfilled within 9 months from the date of the Promoter verifying each winner, receiving each winner’s prize acceptance and, where applicable, a signed liability waiver in order to participate.

5.5. The first name and county of the winners will be published in advertising material to publicly congratulate the winners and engage with the public if permission is granted.

5.6. The Promoter will make available a list of winners’ surnames and counties of residence to members of the public or regulators who request such details within 3 months of the closing date of this promotion. Entrants can object to disclosure, or request that disclosure be limited in scope by contacting support@scienceinsport.com We may nevertheless disclose the information to the Advertising Standards Authority if required to do so. You may request a copy of the winners list by emailing support@scienceinsport.com The Promoter reserves the right to refuse such requests.

5.7. If it is suspected that an entrant uses multiple e-mail addresses or accounts to submit more than one (1) entry, only one (1) entry will be considered In the event of a dispute over who submitted a winning online entry, the “Authorized Account Holder” of the e-mail account used to participate in the draw at the actual time of entry, will be deemed to be the Authorized Account Holder and the natural person to whom the prize is awarded to.

5.8. No responsibility will be taken by the Promoter if a winner is not able to participate in a Prize for any reason and howsoever arising.

  1. The Prizes

6.1 There are nine (9) prizes in total, which are available to be won in the Free Prize Draw (“Prize” or “Prizes”) and each Prize will be subject to its own terms and conditions. The Prizes are detailed below:

6.1.1 Prize. In-car experience with the INEOS Grenadiers Cycling Team. One winner will travel in an official INEOS Grenadiers Cycling Team support vehicle where you’ll follow a stage of the 2024 Tour of Britain. Where possible, the team will use reasonable endeavours to accommodate the competition winner’s preferred stage, although this will be subject to availability. The winner will be responsible for their own travel to the stage Start and travel from the stage Finish. Stages are detailed as follows, and the winner may select one stage:

Stage 1 – Sunday 1st September 2024

Stage 2 – Monday 2nd September 2024

Stage 3 – Tuesday 3rd September 2024

Stage 4 – Wednesday 4th September 2024

Stage 5 – Thursday 5th September 2024

Stage 6 – Friday 6th September 2024

Stage 7 – Saturday 7th September 2024

Stage 8 – Sunday 8th September 2024

The winner will be required to take an at-home Covid test (supplied by the Promoter) and provide a negative test result prior to joining up with the Team.

6.1.2 Prize. VIP runner experience at the 2024 TCS New York City Marathon. One winner will need to confirm race entry details by 9th September 2024, in order to participate in the 2024 TCS New York Marathon. The winner cannot already have an entry to the 2024 TCS New York City Marathon. The winner must be a suitably experienced runner and submit to a health and fitness assessment. Return flights in economy and standard accommodation for 3 nights in New York City will be provided for the winner. Airport and hotel transfers are included. The winner must have a valid passport for the dates of travel. Winner must be available to travel on Thursday 31st October 2024, returning Monday 4th November 2024. The race date is Sunday 3rd November 2024. Flights to be booked by the promoter on behalf of the winner, departing and returning to and from a conveniently located international GB airport. Reasonable out-of-pocket expenses will be covered as part of the prize, limited to £100 per day and payable by bank transfer.

6.1.3 Prize. Training Experience with Saracens. One winner will have the opportunity to attend a training session with members of the Saracens rugby squad. Wherever possible, the experience will be tailored to suit the ability and fitness level of the winner to ensure their participation is safe. The winner will also receive 2 x hospitality tickets (winner and guest) for a Saracens home fixture [on a date determined by the Saracens]. The date of the match will be fixed and no further alternative offered.

6.1.4 Prize. Training with Tottenham Hotspur. One winner will have the opportunity to attend a training session with Tottenham’s Global Football Development (GFD) coaches and members of the Tottenham Hotspur Club and a tour of the facility. Wherever possible, the experience will be tailored to suit the ability and fitness level of the winner to ensure their participation is safe. The winner will also receive 2 x hospitality tickets (winner and guest) for a Spurs home fixture, [on a date determined by Tottenham Hotspur]. The date of the match will be fixed and no further alternative offered.

6.1.5 Prize. Row with British Rowing. One winner will have the opportunity to attend a training session with members of the British Rowing Team.  Wherever possible, the experience will be tailored to suit the ability and fitness level of the winner to ensure their participation is safe.

6.1.6 Prize. England Athletics Experience. One winner will have the opportunity to attend a track session with England Athletics.  Wherever possible, steps will be taken to tailor the England Athletics Experience for the winner, taking into consideration the ability, and fitness level to ensure their participation is safe. The winner will also receive 2x tickets to a UK Diamond League experience, with dates and location subject to availability.

6.1.7 Prize. Sir Chris Hoy’s Velodrome Experience. One winner will have the opportunity to ride in a velodrome in the company of Sir Chris Hoy. The winner will require a good level of basic fitness and be able to safely ride a bicycle. No indoor track experience is necessary. The velodrome location is the National Cycling Centre in Manchester. Date of velodrome experience is subject to availability of the track and Sir Chris Hoy, and an alternative velodrome location may be used.

6.1.8 Prize. Personal Sports Nutrition Consultation with Professor James Morton. All winners will have the opportunity to participate in a sports nutrition consultation with Professor James Morton.  Reasonable endeavours will be made to enable an online video call for the consultation, at a mutually convenient time.

6.1.9 Prize. £500 worth of Science in Sport nutrition products. All winners will receive credit for Science in Sport nutrition products defined as £500 worth of points added to your SiS online account on www.scienceinsport.com, that can be used over 12 months from date of issue. A valid email and postal address will be required to register for an account, if a winner does not already have an online account.

6.2. The Prizes are as stated. Prizes (or Alternative Prizes, as applicable) are non-exchangeable, not transferable, cannot be resold and will only be awarded directly to the winner. There is no cash alternative for a Prize or Alternative Prize.

6.3. All Prizes are subject to availability and in the event that the prizes offered are unavailable due to circumstances beyond the Promoter’s control, or a winner is unable to participate, the Promoter reserves the right to offer an alternative prize or part of a prize of an equal or higher value (subject to clause 7).

6.4. All taxes, costs, liabilities and unspecified expenses associated with the usage of the Prizes or Alternative Prizes (as defined below) are the sole responsibility of the winners.

6.5. The winner shall be responsible for travelling to and from their Prize (where applicable), except where otherwise stated.

6.6. The winner shall respond to all reasonable instructions of the Promoter and the supplier of the Prizes or Alternative Prizes to ensure the safety of the participants during the relevant experience.

  1. Alternative Prizes

7.1. Where it is deemed by the Promoter that participation by the winner would be unsafe or Prizes are unavailable due to circumstances beyond the Promoter’s control the Promoter may choose to offer an alternative prize under clause 7 to the winner (“Alternative Prize”). For the avoidance of doubt, the Alternative Prizes are as stated:

7.1.1. Alternative Prize (for 6.1.2 only). A trip to New York to watch the race with VIP Grandstand seating at the finish line. Return flights in economy and standard accommodation for 3 nights in New York City will be provided for the winner. Airport and hotel transfers are included. The winner must have a valid passport for the dates of travel. Winner must be available to travel on Thursday 31st October 2024, returning Monday 4th November 2024 the race date is Sunday 3rd November 2024. Flights to be booked by the promoter on behalf of the winner, departing and returning to and from a conveniently located international GB airport. Reasonable out-of-pocket expenses will be covered as part of the prize, limited to £100 per day and payable by bank transfer to GB bank account.

7.1.2. Alternative Prize (for 6.1.3 only). A tour of the Saracens’ training ground and 2 x hospitality tickets for a Saracens home fixture (on a date determined by the Saracens). The date of the match and the tour will be fixed and no further alternative offered.

7.1.3. Alternative Prize (for 6.1.4 only). A tour of the Tottenham Hotspurs training ground and 2 x hospitality tickets for a Spurs home fixture (on a date determined by Spurs). The date of the match and the tour will be fixed and no further alternative offered.

7.1.4. Alternative Prize (for 6.1.5 only). The winner will observe team training and travel on board a pace boat as the team train at the home of British Rowing in Caversham. The experience will include a meet and greet with the athletes after their training session.

7.1.5. Alternative Prize (for 6.1.6 only). UK Diamond League experience. 2x tickets (winner and guest) to a UK Diamond League Athletics competition, hosted by Science in Sport. Guests will receive a hospitality experience on the day and meet and greet with a Science in Sport ambassador. Reasonable travel expenses will be covered by Science in Sport at the Promoter’s discretion based on the winner’s location . Dates and location subject to availability.

7.1.6. Alternative Prize (for 6.1.7 only). A velodrome spectator experience , 2 x tickets to a UK Cycling competition at an indoor Velodrome, hosted by Science in Sport. Reasonable travel expenses will be covered by Science in Sport at the Promoter’s discretion based on the winner’s location . Dates and location subject to availability.

  1. Personal Data

8.1. All personal information you submit to the Promoter in connection with the Free Prize Draw is subject to and will be processed in accordance with the Promoter’s privacy policy https://www.scienceinsport.com/privacy-policy

8.2. The Promoter’s website is operated by Science in Sport PLC, 16-18 Hatton Garden, Farringdon, London, EC1N 8AT and all entries will be stored for a maximum of three (3) months before deletion except for prize winners whose data will be deleted upon completion of their prize.

8.3. The Promoter will only use the personal details supplied for the administration of the promotion and for no other purpose, unless we have your consent. Your personal details will at all times be kept confidential and in accordance with current Data Protection legislation. You can request access to your personal data, or have any inaccuracies rectified, by sending an email to support@scienceinsport.com By participating in the Promotion, you agree to the use of your personal data as described here.

  1. Disqualification

9.1. The Promoter assumes no responsibility for and will disqualify entries that are: syndicated entries; made using methods such as computer macro, script or the use of automated devices or processes or artificial intelligence; made via agents, consumer groups, third parties or in bulk; stolen, late, lost, illegible, incomplete, invalid, unintelligible, delayed, misdirected, not received, or that have incorrect or inaccurate entry information. Proof of sending will not be accepted as proof of receipt, and no correspondence will be entered into.

9.2. The Promoter reserves all rights to disqualify you if your conduct is contrary to the spirit or intention of the Free Prize Draw.

9.3. The Promoter reserves the right in its sole discretion to verify the winners including, but not limited to, asking for proof of purchase and ID (passport, driving licence or equivalent) and disqualify any person it suspects or finds: (i) to have tampered with the entry process or the operation of the draw; (ii) to be acting in a disruptive manner, or with the intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person; (iii) to display behaviour that will bring such winner or Promoter into disgrace; (iv) to have provided inaccurate information upon entering the Free Prize Draw; or (v) to be acting in violation of these Terms and conditions; (vi) to have gained unfair advantage in participating in the promotion or won using fraudulent means. Any violation of these official rules by a winner will result in such individual’s disqualification as a winner of the draw and all privileges as a winner will be immediately terminated.

  1. Liability and Force Majeure

10.1. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Promoter, its agents or distributors will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to pay compensation to a winner or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of an entrant entering the Free Prize Draw or taking up a Prize or Alternative Prize, except where it is caused by the negligence of the Promoter, its agents or distributors or that of their employees.  Your statutory rights are not affected.

10.2. The Promoter does not guarantee continuous uninterrupted or secure access to the microsite www.scienceinsport.com/youvsport.  The Promoter will not accept responsibility for entries) which are lost, mislaid, damaged or delayed in transit, including, without limitation, as a result of any equipment failure, technical malfunction, systems, satellite, network, server, computer hardware or software failure of any kind, except where it is caused by the negligence of the Promoter, its agents or distributors or that of their employees.

10.3. Except as otherwise required by applicable law, the Promoter shall not be liable for the content of any externally linked websites.

10.4. The Promoter shall not:

10.4.1. be liable for any failure or delay in complying with its obligations under these Terms and conditions;

Where there is an event of Force Majeure, except that the Promoter shall use all reasonable endeavours to prevent unnecessary disappointment.

10.5. For the purpose of these Terms and conditions, an “event of Force Majeure”, shall have the following meaning: all circumstances beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter, its agents or distributors, or the winner concerned, including (without limitation) acts of God, earthquake, flood, storm, lightning, fire, explosion, war, terrorism, riot, civil disturbance, sabotage, strike, lockout, slowdown, labour disturbances, accident, epidemic or pandemic, difficulties to obtain required raw materials or labour, lack of or failing transportation, breakdown of plant or essential machinery, emergency repair or maintenance, breakdown of public utilities, changes of law, statutes, regulations or any other legislative measures, acts of governments, supranational organizations or other administrative or public agencies, orders or decrees of any court, acts of third parties, delay in delivery or defects in goods or materials or any other circumstances amounting to force majeure.

10.6. The Promoter reserves the right to hold void, cancel, suspend, or amend the promotion where it becomes necessary to do so.

10.7. The Promoter reserves the right to investigate and reject claims it believes to be of a fraudulent nature. Should a claim be upheld as fraudulent, the Promoter reserves the right to pursue damages against individuals in connection with the claim.

  1. General

11.1. It is the responsibility of the entrant to provide correct, up-to-date details when entering the promotion and on prize acceptance. The Promoter cannot be held responsible for winners failing to supply accurate information which affects prize acceptance or delivery of their prize.

11.2. Subject to clauses 5.5 and 8.1, the Promoter’s decisions in all promotional matters in relation to this Free Prize Draw are final and no correspondence will be entered into.

11.3. Participants are responsible for all costs and expenses relating to their entrance in the Free Prize Draw, such as accessing the internet etc.

11.4. If any of these clauses should be determined to be illegal, invalid or otherwise unenforceable then it shall be severed and deleted from these terms and conditions and the remaining clauses shall survive and remain in full force and effect.

11.5. These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by the law of the relevant country for each entrant, and entrants submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the relevant country they reside in.
